State Bank has submitted a report to the National Assembly on the Proposal of Law on Anti-Money Laundering (amended)

This Decision states that the revised Proposal of Law on Anti-Money Laundering‘s contents have made the Party’s policies and lines, the State’s policies and laws, the Government’s direction, the Prime Minister’s direction, and international commitments on the prevention and combat of money laundering more concrete.

It was previously stated in the conclusion of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the proposed law and ordinance development program in 2023 and adjusted in 2022 that the draft Law on prevention and combat of money laundering (amended) would be submitted to the National Assembly for comments and approved according to the process of one session at the 4th session of the XV National Assembly (October 2022). As a result, Nguyen Thi Hong, governor of the State Bank, provided a report on the draft of Law on Anti-Money Laundering to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

This Decision states that the revised Proposal of Law on Anti-Money Laundering‘s contents have made the Party’s policies and lines, the State’s policies and laws, the Government’s direction, the Prime Minister’s direction, and international commitments on the prevention and combat of money laundering more concrete.

The Law project’s content is unanimously endorsed by the Government. The State Bank of Vietnam must be given the primary responsibility for, and coordination with, the Ministry of Justice, the Government Office, and relevant ministries and agencies in order to continue studying and absorbing the opinions of the Government Members in order to revise and perfect the Dossier of the Law project in the following direction. The law project’s formulation must be appropriate for the nation’s political structure, environmental circumstances, and social context; it must also safeguard the nation’s interests as well as the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

In addition, the aforementioned Law project resolves the problems and shortcomings of the Law on Anti-Money Laundering 2012 in conformity with international agreements to which Vietnam is a party.
